Abstract

In recent years there are clear signs of the reemergence of geopolitics and the rise of great power rivalry as a result of the multipolarisation of the international order. This volume is focusing on the less visible actors and regions of the international arenas, the global peripheries, and smaller countries. The ambition of the present collection of studies is to introduce the reader to some of the special geopolitical characteristics of these regions and countries. Even though the topics are intentionally varied, with a wide regional focus, the reader can recognise similar patterns within the chapters. The authors of the studies are representing a new generation of young researchers connected to the Department of Geography, Geoeconomy, and Sustainable Development at Corvinus University of Budapest.
