Abstract
Mental mapping is the science of orientation. Traffic and transportation are going to face tremendous changes in the immediate future. Yet behind the glaring lights of new technologies, we always find human beings, and although technology can indeed widen the limits of perception, its theoretical frame will always remain human beings. It is a teaser volume. We encourage the reader (urban planners, geographers, sociologists etc.), to introduce mental map approach, from now on, in their areas. The volume brings out a few works that had had a significant influence of the definition of this field of science, alongside a few case studies that demonstrate well the areas of application of the field.
