Abstract

Institutional theory, as described by Koczkás (2024a), emphasises how the institutional environment shapes organisational behaviour. It highlights that firms must conform to societal norms and regulatory frameworks to gain legitimacy. Institutions are categorised into formal and informal, with the former including legal and political systems, while the latter encompasses cultural and social norms.
