Abstract
In 2015, Poland launched its own large-scale geo-economic project, the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), and since then 12 other EU Member States have joined. The holistic cooperation has identified a large number of economic and infrastructure development needs, with the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas as its geographical borders (Central and Eastern European region). After Russia’s military invasion against Ukraine in 2022, the global geopolitical importance of this region and initiative has been enhanced. This paper examines that how the historical Intermarium concepts are reflected in the objectives of the 3SI and what are the main similarities and differences between the two geopolitical projects.
